With Emperor of America and Blood Republic,
Bruno Lowagie explores a fascinating subgenre of fantasy literature: alternative history.
The main characters are vampires, but the diptych is primarily a literary exploration of American politics in the
nineteenth century, on the eve of the Civil War. Thanks to their immortality, the protagonists can be present
on the battlefield in both 1821 and 1960-61, creating an intriguing intersection between fact and fiction.

More news about this book will be shared during the press conference on December 3, 2025.

In the summer of 2023, Bruno Lowagie began compiling an inventory of all the short stories he had ever written.
These activities did not go unnoticed. The Ghent publisher Poespa Producties expressed interest in publishing a collection of short stories.
Bruno compiled a list of 235 stories, all of which were read by editor Finn Audenaert.
This resulted in a selection of 42 stories that offer a fine example of the various styles and genres the author has explored in recent years.
